Positive Reinforcement: The Key to Success
What specific training methods do you find most effective for French Bulldogs, and why?
Positive Reinforcement.
Why it works: French Bulldogs love to please their owners and are food-motivated. Rewarding good behaviour with treats, praise, or play encourages them to repeat it.
- Use high-value treats (like boiled chicken or cheese).
- Reward immediately after the desired behaviour.
- Keep sessions short (10–15 minutes) to match their attention span.
Tackling Stubbornness with Engaging Training
What are some common behavioural challenges you see in French Bulldogs that your training addresses?
Stubbornness / Selective Listening
The challenge: Frenchies are clever but can be very headstrong. They may ignore commands, especially if they’re bored or distracted.
Training solution:
- Short, engaging sessions with positive reinforcement.
- Make it a game—if it’s fun, they’re in.
- Use high-value treats and mix up rewards to keep them interested.

A Typical Training Session: Short, Sweet, and Fun
Could you describe a typical training session with a French Bulldog?
A typical training session with a French Bulldog is all about keeping it short, fun, and rewarding. These little goofballs have short attention spans and strong personalities, so the goal is to keep them engaged and end on a high note.

The Rewarding "Lightbulb" Moment
n your experience, what's the most rewarding aspect of training French Bulldogs?
French Bulldogs may be a challenge at times, but that just makes the victories so much sweeter. 🐶 Most Rewarding Aspect?
Watching a stubborn little gremlin suddenly “get it”—and then proudly show it off. There's something so special about that lightbulb moment with a Frenchie. One day they’re giving you that classic “you talkin’ to me?” side-eye, and the next, they’re confidently sitting, staying, or nailing a trick they previously had zero interest in. It’s pure joy.
